Why the company name Hummingbird?

The sound of birds are all around us, we just need to stop and listen to them. Birdsong is part of the natural stereo soundtrack to our everyday lives. Like music, it can stop us in our tracks with its warmth and dexterity and uplift our souls. I love it when the birds are out singing in the dawn chorus to the rising sun, signifying the start of spring and the positivity of a great day ahead.

The Hummingbird symbolises enjoyment of life and lightness of being, lifts up negativity and therefore gives way to express love more fully in your daily endeavours. These little guys can be playful and optimistic, reminding you to enjoy life’s simple pleasures and take time to enjoy yourself.

These feelings are mirrored in a wedding and party celebration. Family and friends gathered together to celebrate the festivities, enjoying the warmth and happiness of each other’s company, with songs uplifting spirits, really wanting to make us party! Very much like the Hummingbird! They enjoy the freedom of open spaces and being outdoors, they are at one with nature and themselves and when you look at them it’s like they bring the outside in! This matches my values behind a Hummingbird celebration. Add in great entertainment and songs, ensuring guests really enjoy themselves are such any important part of an event to me. There’s a foreword from the book “Our Songbirds” by Matt Sewell that sums this up;

“If there’s one type of bird that I have a strong affinity with its definitely the singy songy fellas. They kind of wake up the world with their vocals. It’s a little-known fact, but that’s not them getting up, you know; its them having not been to bed yet. Often, they’ve had a drink too. They’re feathery show offs. Who cares that an Albatross has got the bigger set of wings – those dudes are bad luck. Nope, believe me, it’s the songbirds that are the open-beaked frontmen of the feathered world. Long may they rock.”
